A Christian Response to Climate Change – Responding with Faith, Hope and Action
Thanks to all who came along to our event on Tuesday 17th September at West View Baptist Church. It was a privilege to welcome Dr David Golding, C.B.E., Development Co-ordinator of North East Call to Action on Global Poverty and Climate Change. The short films inspired question, comment and, we hope, commitment to doing what we can, personally and politically, to protect our world and work for climate justice.

Breaking The Chains From 1998 To The Present Day
Three members of Hartlepool for Peace & Justice went to the celebration of 20 years of the Jubilee Debt Campaign in Birmingham on Saturday 29th September. Notwithstanding a cancelled train a good time was had by all.
Keynote speech by Nick Dearden (Global Justice Now) & supporting presentations by Ann Pettifor (Prime Economics), Atallah Fitzgibbon (Islamic Relief) & David Golding (North East Call to Action). These presentations illustrated that even though campaigning prompted significant changes over the last 20 years, the current problems of inequality & debt are still to be overcome. Time to raise a glass to Jubilee Debt Campaign’s past achievements & to their future work!
Many thanks to all who attended this event – candidates and audience. The questioning was insightful and robust. Here is a link to a report by one of our supporters:
